OTTMap ("the app", "we", "us") is operated by smara.tech, a personal software project. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.
1. Data we collect
If you use the app without an account
No personal data is collected. Your watchlist and preferences are stored locally on your device only.
If you create an account
- Email address — used to authenticate you and to send account-related notices (password reset, email verification). We do not send marketing email.
- Username — a display name you choose. Can be changed or left unset.
- Watchlist and preferences — the films you've saved, your selected languages and streaming platforms, your country/region setting, and your notification preferences. Stored so they sync across your devices.
Automatically collected
- Crash reports — if the app crashes, a report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics containing the exception stack trace and basic device/OS information. No personal data is included.
- Anonymous usage events — we do not currently run an analytics service. If this changes, this policy will be updated before any data is collected.
2. How we use your data
We use your data only to operate the app:
- Authenticating you when you sign in
- Syncing your watchlist and preferences across devices
- Sending transactional email (password reset, email verification)
- Diagnosing crashes
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
3. Data storage
Account data is stored in Supabase, hosted on AWS in the eu-west-1 region. Crash data is processed by Firebase Crashlytics (Google). Both services are subject to their respective security certifications.
4. Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your data is scheduled for permanent deletion. A brief grace period applies before data is removed, during which you can reactivate by signing back in.
5. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and associated data
- Export your watchlist data
To exercise these rights, delete your account from within the app (Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account) or email contact@smara.tech.
6. Children's privacy
OTTMap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
7. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the policy changes materially. If you have an account, we will send a notice to your registered email address before changes take effect.
